Peterborough United captain Russell Martin has warned his team-mates that Wycombe Wanderers will provide tricky opposition when the two clubs meet in the first round of the Carling Cup in the first week of the new campaign.

Martin joined Posh from the Chairboys and revealed that several current Wycombe players have already been in touch after the draw was made on Tuesday morning. Martin, speaking to theposh.com, said:

'It is definitely a good draw for me personally and I obviously cannot wait for the game. I enjoyed my time with Wycombe Wanderers and I was pleased to see them get promoted into League One last term. Make no mistake, they will prove to be tricky opposition for us.

'I saw Gary Holt recently and he is confident that Wycombe will do be successful and that they have a good squad for the new season. I am sure it will be a difficult game for us, but every game is going to be tough next year. The fixtures are out on Wednesday and we are looking forward to seeing who we will face first,' Martin said.

The squad are due to report for pre-season training on 1st July and will spend a week in Marbella before the friendly fixtures get underway with Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa confirmed as home opposition.
