Tyler Leaves Posh By Mutual Consent

Posted on: Mon 15 Jun 2009

Goalkeeper Mark Tyler has left Peterborough United Football Club by mutual consent and is free to discuss a move with any other club, with several teams vying for his signature.

Tyler, who made over 400 league starts for the club and is second only to Tommy Robson in the club records for most appearances, said his goodbyes at London Road on Monday.

Director of Football Barry Fry paid tribute to Tyler for his efforts over a 15-year association with the football club. 'We have agreed to mutually cancel the contract of Mark Tyler to enable him to sign for another club. Mark has been a model professional, both on and off the pitch, and has been a credit to himself and the football club.

'He amassed over 400 games for the Posh and has had many highs during his career, including representing the Football League against the Italian League in the 1990s, not to mention the fantastic testimonial against a Liverpool XI last year when over 10,000 fans showed their support.

'I would like to thank Mark for the fantastic service he has given to Peterborough United and wish him the best of luck with his future career,' Fry told theposh.com. Tyler's final Posh appearance came in a 3-1 victory at Colchester United in January 2008. He spent much of last season on-loan with Coca-Cola League Two side Bury and helped the Shakers to their best league finish for a number of years.
