Peterborough United will take on Newcastle United in the same division next season after the Magpies were relegated from the Premier League following a 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa with Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion also facing life in the Coca-Cola Championship.
Defender Craig Morgan is understandably excited by the prospect of a trip to St. James Park, the Riverside Stadium and the Hawthorns, but insists Posh will be positive in their approach to fixtures against top quality opposition.
'It will certainly be interesting playing at St. James Park,' Morgan said. 'I watched the game against Aston Villa and it was the last throw of the dice for them, but they never really looked like getting something from the match and believe me, it is going to be difficult for them to bounce back straight away.
'True, it will be a difficult place to go with the large crowd behind them and if they get a bit of momentum then I am sure they will be there or thereabouts, but the Championship is a very tough league to get out of as many big teams have found in recent seasons.
'You never know though, if you catch them early in the season or on a off day, you can cause an upset and we will be positive when we play them. Don't' get me wrong, for a lot of players at Peterborough, it is a real dream come true to be playing at places like St. James Park.
'However, at the end of the day, we are both in the same division because we deserve to be. We know how tough it will be, we have played West Bromwich Albion three or four times in the last two years and not beaten them once. There will be no hiding place at that level.
'In my opinion, Swansea City are a good example for us to follow. They didn't make wholesale changes, but they brought quality into their squad and they finished only a few points off the play-offs. There are no easy games in the Championship, but we are looking forward to the challenge,' Morgan said.
The central defender has a busy summer while team-mates are enjoying the close-season. He has been called-up by Wales for two fixtures in the next couple of weeks and is hoping to add to his 13 caps.
'I have had a short break, but then it has been a return to training so I am sharp for the two games for Wales, should I be included in the starting line-up. It would be good to get off 13 for the amount of caps I have received, then I can have another break and be ready for pre-season,' Morgan concluded.
