Peterborough United defender Tom Williams has been ruled out for up to 10 weeks after sustaining a Grade Two medial ligament tear of his right knee during the second half of the 2-1 victory at Oldham Athletic.

Williams had the news confirmed by the Consultant that he would miss the rest of the campaign and the left-back admits he is bitterly disappointed not to play in a part in the final five games of the season.

'I just volleyed the ball and my standing leg gave way. It went numb for a little bit and I thought I could run it off, but we found out that it is a bit more serious than we first feared and that is my season over, which is very frustrating and disappointing for myself.

'I don't really remember too much about the incident, the physiotherapist Keith Oakes came over to me, but it took quite a while for the ball to go out of play. I don't think too many people knew that I was actually down, but I genuinely thought I would be able to continue, but it was obvious that was not the case when I got up.

'It caps a rather frustrating campaign for me to be honest. I have had a long spell on the sidelines already this term so it is frustrating that my season is over, but hopefully the lads can do the business and when I come back we will be preparing for a campaign in the Championship,' Williams said.
