Sergio Torres was handed only his eighth start of the season at Leyton Orient on Tuesday night and he repaid the faith shown in him with a superb display, which was capped by his first Peterborough United goal.

Torres has found himself on the fringes of the first team for much of this season, but after working extremely hard in training, the Argentinean was given the chance to shine by boss Darren Ferguson and he didn't disappoint, putting in a fine display as Posh clinched a 3-2 win at the Matchroom Stadium.

'It is a feeling I can't explain. I have been waiting for my chance for the last three months, I have been working hard and to stay fit because I was hoping I would get the chance. The lads have been playing well and I have had to be patient, but I got my chance and I was so pleased to score. You saw when the ball hit the back of the net, I had no idea what to do!

'I was a bit lucky with the finish, I tried to put it inside the post but the ball went to close to the goalkeeper. Thankfully it went under him but when I saw the ball rolling over the line it was an amazing feeling. All my family and my friends are in my head at this moment in time because they kept encouraging me and believing in me.

'I haven't played for about three months, so I knew this was one of the last chances I would get to play because we are in the final few weeks of the season and I want to play my part. It was a great three points for us and it is now up to me to keep hold of the shirt.

'At present, my legs are really tired, I had cramp towards the end, but I will get a good rest and hopefully I will be in the squad for Saturday. I need to keep working hard and maybe I will get my chance again,' Torres told theposh.com.
