Ferguson Pleased With Possession Statistics
Manager Darren Ferguson hailed his side's performance, particularly in the first half as Peterborough United recorded a vital 1-0 victory at Hereford United to keep up the pressure on Milton Keynes Dons.
Ferguson revealed he thought the first half display was 'one of the best of the season' as Aaron Mclean's early strike separated the two sides. After handing Lee Frecklington his first start for Posh, Posh dominated for long periods and certainly won the midfield battle.
'I thought our possession of the football, particularly in the first 45 minutes was terrific and we caused them plenty of problems. We now have the personnel to play that system and Lee came in and did a good job for the team. We dominated the possession and the only disappointment was coming in at half-time only one goal to the good.
'We had plenty of chances in the second half as well to extend our lead, but we just couldn't kill it off. Hereford came into it as you would expect them too, but I don't think they had many shots on goal, if any, and the two centre backs were excellent throughout.
'Joe Lewis came and caught everything and that takes the pressure off the defenders and I am delighted with the clean sheet. I think it is our first clean sheet on the road since the win at Yeovil and we certainly need to collect a few more between now and the end of the season,' Ferguson told theposh.com.
