Striker Scott Rendell has rejoined Blue Square Premier side Cambridge United on-loan until the end of the season and the U's have the option to extend that deal if they reach the play-offs.

The two clubs have agreed a loan fee for the striker and Rendell will link up with the club on Tuesday. Director of Football Barry Fry told theposh.com: 'Scott made it clear the only club he wanted to join on-loan was Cambridge so the three other club's interested was not really an option.

'We have concluded this deal, mainly because of the association that Paul Carden has with the football club. Scott will stay at Cambridge until the end of the season and we wish him well.'

Rendell has already had loan spells with the U's and scored seven goals in nine appearances. He will wear the number nine shirt at the Abbey Stadium.
