Peterborough United travel to Edgeley Park to face Stockport County in Coca-Cola League One action on Saturday and manager Darren Ferguson will be looking for the club to extend their unbeaten run.
After a 0-0 draw against Tranmere Rovers in the second round of the FA Cup last weekend, Ferguson will be hoping his strikers rediscover their shooting boots against a team that have recorded impressive results of late after securing promotion via the play-offs last term.
TEAM NEWS
It appears that manager Darren Ferguson will make a straight choice between Chris Whelpdale and Shaun Batt for the right-wing berth with the latter the favourite after some excellent displays from the substitute bench of late. Andrew Crofts returns to the squad after missing the Tranmere game because he was cup-tied. Jamie Day and Shane Blackett are long-term absentees.
Stockport are not set to make any changes to the starting line-up for the clash with Posh after an excellent run of form which has seen the Hatters move into eighth place in League One.
ONE TO WATCH
Craig Davies is currently on-loan from Oldham Athletic and his pace and power have caused plenty of problems. Davies had a spell in Italy with Verona and that experience will stand him in good stead for the future.
MANAGER QUOTES
'It's a real chance to secure the prize of a place in the play-off positions. I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised Peterborough have done well this season so far, other teams have gone up and carried on their momentum.
'Once you've got a good team together and that bit of belief in the manager and belief in each other, then there's always a chance that a team will continue to perform well. You've seen that in us, Peterborough and MK Dons in League One this season, but it is nice for us to be right on their tails now, chasing in eighth spot.
'We've had a good November, four wins and a couple of draws is an excellent return, but Peterborough also did well last month. It's two form teams going head-to-head on Saturday, two good footballing sides. The fans should be in for a really exciting afternoon,' Stockport boss Jim Gannon said.
'Stockport came up with us last season and play excellent football. They are very organised, defensively are sound and in Craig Davies they have a threat up front. We want to keep our unbeaten run going, but we know it will be a difficult game,' Ferguson said.
