Peterborough United have been boosted ahead of tonight's Coca-Cola League One fixture at Swindon Town with the news that central defender Gabriel Zakuani will sign a permanent deal when the January transfer window opens.

Zakuani has agreed a three-and-a-half year deal at London Road and will join the club on a permanent basis on 1st January. Zakuani's loan spell will conclude on 14th December so he will miss the fixtures with Leicester City, Millwall and Cheltenham Town, but the news of the permanent transfer being confirmed is a massive boost to the club's promotion aspirations.

'Gabby has been excellent since he came here on-loan and has been a big part of our unbeaten run. He is an out and out defender and has formed a good partnership with Craig Morgan,' Ferguson commented.

Zakuani has yet to be on the losing side at Posh since his arrival from Premier League side Fulham. We will have more reaction to this news following the clash at the County Ground.
