Mclean Back Amongst The Goals
Striker Aaron Mclean marked his first start for Peterborough United in over a month with a brace of goals as Huddersfield Town were brushed aside 4-0 at London Road in the latest Coca-Cola League One fixture.
Mclean started and finished the scoring in front of over 7,000 supporters and the former Grays Athletic front man, who netted 33 goals last term, is delighted to be back in the team and doing what he does best, scoring goals.
'I was obviously keen to be back in the team and I was pleased to score twice and help the team to a comfortable win. I had been having a bit of banter with Charlie Lee about the first goal - he sensed that he might get the first one and I would be on the score-sheet too, so I was extra pleased to get the opener so early.
'I actually had one or two half chances prior to my first goal, but they managed to get a few blocks in so when the opportunity came on 12 minutes, I was determined to take it. George Boyd did superbly well and that is what he does, Boydie is Boydie, he is a class act.
'The second goal for myself was a bit fortunate, but as a striker you want to get your shots away and I managed to get it on target and it has gone through the goalkeeper. If you don't buy a ticket as the saying goes. It is great to play in a team like this because we create so many chances.
'While I have been out of the team injured I have seen the amount of opportunities that the side have been creating and it is great to be back and amongst the goals. It was a good win and we look forward to Crewe at Gresty Road on Tuesday night and hope to extend our little unbeaten run,' Mclean told theposh.com.
