Posh v Brighton: The Match Preview
Peterborough United look to continue their unbeaten run when they face Brighton & Hove Albion in Coca-Cola League One action at London Road this evening (7.45pm).
Darren Ferguson's men are currently seven matches without defeat in the league and come up against a Brighton side in 17th place in the League One table and without a win in seven matches.
The Seagulls were held to a goal-less draw by bottom-placed Hereford United at the weekend, while a last-gasp Craig Mackail-Smith goal earned Posh a point at Carlisle United.
TEAM NEWS
Posh welcome back Sergio Torres to the squad after injury but Ferguson's men are without the services of Shane Blackett (shoulder), Jamie Day (back), Chris Westwood (calf) and Dean Keates (knee). Aaron Mclean is pushing for a start, but Ferguson is expected to continue with Shaun Batt in a forward position.
Brighton's Tommy Elphick is back from suspension but may have to settle for a place on the bench. Nicky Forster, Gary Hart and Kerry Mayo are out but Kevin Thornton and Kevin McLeod are pushing for starting places.
ONE TO WATCH
Former Rochdale striker Glenn Murray (pictured) has made an excellent start to the season, scoring plenty of goals, including a hat-trick against Cheltenham Town - his first career treble. Murray has good height, is strong with his back to goal and is deceptively quick for someone so tall.
MANAGER QUOTES
'We know we need to be on the top of our game if we are to continue our recent good form. We were disappointed not to collect maximum points at Carlisle and we have back-to-back home games now which we need to do well in,' Ferguson said.
Assistant manager Dean White said: 'It is going to be a difficult game. They are a free-scoring team and especially lively up front. We need to make sure we are nice and tight at the back and I am sure we will score goals. Nicky's experience and goals are missed but we have to deal with that and move on.
We are a better team than what we are producing at the moment. The players and staff are determined we are going to turn this around and be a force.'
