Ferguson Pleased With Trio
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has confirmed that Aaron Mclean and Shane Blackett will be in the squad that travels to Carlisle United in Coca-Cola League One action on Saturday, but will give midfielder Sergio Torres another full week of training before considering him for the first team.
Torres scored the only Posh goal in the 2-1 defeat to the Hornets and performed well on the right hand side of midfield, but Ferguson believes he needs another full week before he will be ready for selection.
'Sergio did well and I was pleased he got the goal because he deserved it for his performance. I don't think he will be considered for this weekend because he is still a little way behind, but if he comes through a full week of training next week, he will be in the squad for the game with Huddersfield.
'I thought Shane Blackett performed very well at centre back and he will definitely be in the 16. He showed no signs of any injury problems and he gives me good cover all across the back four. Aaron will be in the squad, but I won't make a decision on the starting line-up until Friday.
'I will be taking a closer look at left-back trialist Craig Braham-Barrett. Welling were great in letting him play in the reserves and we will see what we can do. He would provide good cover in that position because obviously Jamie Day will be out for the season. He is still young and has great pace,' Ferguson said.
Posh have signed young Ebbsfleet striker Kwesi Appiah on non-contract terms and he appeared as a second half substitute against Watford. He can only feature in reserve team fixtures.
