Day Ruled Out For Nine Months

Posted on: Thu 09 Oct 2008

Peterborough United have been dealt a massive blow with the news that left-back Jamie Day faces nine months on the sidelines after being told he needs a back operation.

Day saw a specialist this week and was informed that an operation was required. Day has been suffering with a back problem in the last four weeks and manager Darren Ferguson revealed the devastating news.

'I really feel for the lad. He has worked extremely hard to get fit for the new season and was playing really well, but was feeling his back and unfortunately the specialist has confirmed an operation is required, so he will be out for at least nine months, so his season is over.

'It is devastating news for the club and for Jamie. I have spoken with him and he is obviously very down, but he will bounce back. He is a top lad, a great professional and he will come back stronger I have no doubt about that,' Ferguson said.
