Posh v Leeds: The Match Preview
Peterborough United entertain Leeds United in Coca-Cola League One action at London Road on Saturday (12pm) - the first time the two sides have met in competitive action for 20 years.
The game is a complete sell-out with over 13,500 supporters set to be inside the stadium with over 4,000 fans from Leeds cheering their side on. Posh go into the game full of confidence following a 2-1 victory at Milton Keynes Dons while Leeds beat Hereford United last time out.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of Aaron Mclean (dislocated elbow), Shane Blackett (dislocated shoulder), Sergio Torres (knee) and Dean Keates (knee), but Gabriel Zakuani has recovered from a foot injury to take his place at the heart of defence.
Leeds are without left-back Alan Sheehan who has a hamstring injury, so Paul Telfer could continue in the starting line-up. Jermaine Beckford is expected to lead the line and he is the leading marksman in the country at present.
ONE TO WATCH
Jermaine Beckford has scored 11 goals in all competitions so far this season and if he continues to stay injury free then there is no reason why he can't reach 30 goals by the end of the campaign. He tends to drop deeper to get the ball, but when he does he can be very explosive.
MANAGER QUOTES
'Everyone is looking forward to the game and it will be a sell-out crowd, which will make for a fantastic atmosphere. Leeds are a massive club and will be looking for automatic promotion, but just because it is Leeds, they have no divine right to get promotion and they will need to work hard like every other team,' Ferguson said.
'We saw them live on the TV against Bristol Rovers (Posh won 5-4) and they looked very good going forward. They are leaking a few goals, and I'm sure their manager will be looking to put things right, but it will be tough.
'It's unfortunate for them that (Aaron) Mclean is missing; he's someone who caught my eye throughout last season and has started the season excellently. But (Craig) Mackail-Smith is the obvious other threat. He looks sharp and alert and hungry. But we spend more time talking about what we are going to do, rather than what the opposition are doing,' McAllister said.
