Chlamydia Testing At London Road On Saturday
Fans attending Peterborough United's fixture with Leeds United on Saturday will have the opportunity to have a test for Chlamydia. Figures so far this year show approximately 12% of 15-24 years olds in Peterborough have Chlamydia which is higher than the national average.
Known as the silent infection, 70% of women and 50% of men who have Chlamydia show no symptoms. If left untreated it can cause serious health problems including infertility. It can be easily treated with a course of antibiotics.
The tests and treatment are free and available only to people under the age of 25. The stall will be located in the main refreshments area in the family stand (near the bar and toilets) from 10am to 1pm.
The quick and simple DIY test can be taken at the match and results will be texted, emailed, given over the phone or posted to those who take part within two weeks. Anyone who wants to take a free test at home can visit www.cambstakeatest.com and arrange to have a kit sent to them in the post.
