His name and photograph were not in the official Milton Keynes Dons programme and a lack of first team appearances prior to the match at stadium:mk meant that Shaun Batt was a relatively unknown proposition to the Dons players. They know all about him now.

Batt was handed his league debut and he took his opportunity, causing the Dons defence problems all afternoon. He was denied a fairytale afternoon by the post on two occasions and he also saw a shot whistle past the post before cramp brought a premature end to his involvement in the game.

'It was funny because I was flicking through the programme and I was nowhere to be seen and I thought to myself, 'this could be a good opportunity because they won't know too much about me', and hopefully that is the way it turned out because I felt I did okay.

'It was amazing just turning up at the stadium and walking out onto the pitch at 1.30pm because I have never played in a ground like that before. I am used to playing in front of one man and his dog at Fisher Athletic and now I have played in front of 10,000 supporters in a stadium that would not be out of place in the Premier League.

'It is an absolute whirlwind for me and I am loving every minute of it. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be making my league debut at Milton Keynes Dons and I so nearly capped it with a goal, which would have been a fairytale story. I came close, hitting the post twice, and I can't wait for the next match and hopefully I will be involved again.

'I want to take this chance that I have been given. I am loving every minute of life at Peterborough and I go out and play with a smile on my face. I don't let the big occasions get to me and with the help of the coaches at the club, I can keep improving,' Batt told theposh.com.
