Posh v Bristol Rovers: The Match Preview
Peterborough United entertain Bristol Rovers at London Road on Saturday (12.15pm) in a game that is televised live by Sky Sports and boss Darren Ferguson is hoping his players can bounce back after the 2-1 home reverse to Hartlepool United last weekend.
Posh have had no match during mid-week after receiving a bye in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, but opponents Bristol Rovers were in action, losing 3-0 at AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of Craig Morgan who is on international duty with Wales, while fellow centre back Chris Westwood remains a doubt despite coming through training on Thursday.
Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope has to decide if David Pipe is well enough to return after illness. Ryan Green played his first game for 10 months in his place on Tuesday. Jo Kuffour should feature for the first time after signing from Bournemouth.
ONE TO WATCH
Striker Rickie Lambert is the main threat and he has already formed an effective partnership with Daryll Duffy. Lambert moved to the Memorial Stadium, from Rochdale, for a fee of £200,000 late on transfer deadline day, 31st August, 2006. The striker, brought in to replace Junior Agogo, was with Liverpool as a schoolboy before a move to Blackpool, as a trainee.
MANAGER QUOTES
'The performances have been good, we know we have to turn those good displays into victories. I would be more worried if the performances were poor. We are still confident and we know we can turn things around and hopefully it will happen in front of the TV cameras,' Ferguson said.
'As far as I am concerned the other night was a blip because even when we lost games last season there were positives to take out of them. There weren't many the other night and we have to bounce back quickly. Going to Peterborough in front of the TV cameras gives us a nice opportunity to do that,' Rovers boss Paul Trollope said.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The game kicks-off at 12.15pm and supporters are reminded that only those who require Main Stand tickets need to queue at the Ticket Office.
