Ferguson Not Ruling Out More Arrivals
Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has not ruled out more arrivals despite the expected signing of central defender Gabriel Zakuani from Fulham and the completed deal for Dagenham and Redbridge left-winger Dominic Green.
Ferguson is still tracking a midfielder believed to be Manchester United youngster Darron Gibson, a player that the Posh boss tracked during the close-season. Ferguson confirmed that he was in the market for a Premier League midfield man to boost his squad.
'I have got the defender I want in Gabi and to persuade someone of his calibre to come to London Road was a bit of a coup. He is a big, strong centre back and he will certainly give me more options. I am still looking at a number of players, one from the Premier League and he is a midfielder.
'I just feel if we can get those additions in then we will have a really strong squad with players for every position. However, I am looking to bring players in that can play straight away and when the loan window re-opens, we will see if we can sort something out,' Ferguson said.
The Posh boss is happy with his strike-force, despite just three front men now on the books following Liam Hatch's move to Darlington for three months on-loan. Danny Crow has also departed the club this week.
'Craig Mackail-Smith, Aaron Mclean and Scott Rendell are all good strikers and George Boyd can also play up top so I am happy with what I have at my disposal in that area. To be fair we are creating plenty of opportunities and I would be more worried if we were playing poorly and not looking like scoring,' Ferguson added.
The loan window re-opens on Tuesday.
