New Signing Thrilled To Be At London Road
New signing Dominic Green believes the ambition of Peterborough United was one of the key reasons for his decision to put pen to paper on a four-year contract at London Road.
The 19-year-old looked set to sign for Coca-Cola League One rivals Huddersfield Town, but the persistence of boss Darren Ferguson convinced the talented midfielder to sign on the dotted line for Posh.
'This is my first move and obviously it is a bigger club. It was a hard decision to leave Dagenham and Redbridge, but they informed me of the interest from the clubs and didn't stand in my way. It looked like I was going to sign for Huddersfield Town. I watched them on Saturday against Milton Keynes Dons and I was all packed to sign, but Dagenham told me of Peterborough's interest just before I was about to leave.
'Darren Ferguson telephoned me and persuaded me to come and meet with him and he convinced me that Peterborough was the place to be. It is obvious that the club is going places and I want to be a part of that. I already know Shane Blackett, Craig Mackail-Smith and Shaun Batt and I have spoken to them about the club.
'I am a left-winger who likes to attack and show what I can do in the final third. I was only in my second year at Dagenham and I scored my first Football League goal on the opening day of the season. Peterborough want to get out of this league quickly and they match my ambitions,' Green told theposh.com.
'It says a lot for how far we have come as a football club to be beating off competition from two Championship clubs and Huddersfield Town. I am very pleased with the signing, he is an exciting talent,' boss Ferguson said.
