Ferguson Not Happy With Start
Manager Darren Ferguson has admitted that three points from the opening three matches is not good enough and has called on his side to improve ahead of back-to-back home matches.
A goal from the penalty spot condemned Peterborough United to their second 1-0 away defeat of the campaign and despite dominating the second half in terms of possession, Ferguson's men couldn't find a leveller.
'The goal we conceded at Scunthorpe was all of our own doing and the challenge from Kieran Charnock has cost us the game. Up until that point they had not hurt us or tested Joe Lewis, so I have to be frustrated and disappointed by the challenge because it was so unnecessary.
'I changed it around in the second half in terms of the formation and we had a lot of the ball, but we didn't really test their goalkeeper enough. The lads are disappointed and so am I because I felt we could come here and get a result.
'I am also disappointed by the start to the season, we have played well in parts of the matches we have lost, but three points from nine available is not good enough. I know people say it is so early on in the season, but before you know it, Christmas is around the corner. There are a lot of matches in quick succession and we don't want to get left behind,' Ferguson said.
The Posh boss is hoping central defensive duo Chris Westwood and Craig Morgan will be available for selection for Saturday's Coca-Cola League One fixture against Hartlepool United at London Road.
'I knew on Monday of last week that Chris would not be fit for the game, but Craig twisted his ankle on Wednesday and failed a fitness test ahead of the game. I think they will be both back next week, Craig definitely and I don't think Chris's injury is too serious,' Ferguson added.
