Boyd Enjoys Return To Broadhall Way
He may not have scored, but George Boyd was certainly the star of the show as Peterborough United claimed a comfortable 2-0 victory over Stevenage Borough in the latest pre-season friendly.
Boyd excelled on his return to Broadhall Way, the stadium where he honed his skills, creating both goals and showing touches on the ball that drew plenty of admiring glances from supporters and scouts alike.
Although he was afforded time on the ball, Boyd still showed excellent control and vision and it was perfect ground in which to perform, given his family were in the stand watching the friendly fixture.
'I really enjoyed it to be honest,' Boyd said. 'I was given the ball a lot and that is what I enjoy, running at defenders and trying to beat them. It was great to come back to Stevenage and get such a great reception from the supporters. I really did enjoy my time at Stevenage and the fans were fantastic.
'I know it will be a lot tougher in League One because the opposition will want to get tighter and I may be a marked man, but I will deal with that to the best of my ability. It was physical in the Conference and League Two and I don't expect it to be that much different in League One,' Boyd told theposh.com.
Meanwhile, trialist Paul Coutts is still hoping to win a contract at London Road after another impressive display at the heart of the midfield. 'I will just have to wait and see, I hope I have done enough because I really enjoyed it out there, but it is down to the management.'
