Torres Looking Forward To New Challenge
Peterborough United have completed the signing of Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Sergio Torres with the Argentinean putting pen to paper on a three-year contract at London Road after passing a medical.
Posh will pay a fee in the region of £150,000 for the 27-year-old, although a fee has been included in that figure for Russell Martin. Torres, speaking exclusively to theposh.com, was delighted with the move.
'This is a new challenge for me and one I am really looking forward to. It was really sad for me to leave Wycombe because I had four really happy years there, but I want to play at the highest level I can and this move is a good one for me. Wycombe were fantastic to me, the management, team-mates and the supporters were so nice to me and I really wish them well in the future.
'I am happy to be at Peterborough. I have had a look around the stadium and spoke to Darren Ferguson and everyone has made me feel really welcome. I have spoken to Russell Martin who I am good friends with and he had plenty of positive things to say about the club.
'I can't wait to get started. I am a player who always gives 100% and I have worked extremely hard on the defensive side of my game in the last two years. I like to run with the ball though, I like to get forward and do some tricks in the right area of the field. I believe I have joined a club moving forward,' Torres said.
The midfielder underwent an ankle operation at the end of last season but believes he will be back training fully in two weeks. 'I had a bit of bone removed from the back of my foot, but I have done some work in the last week or so and the physiotherapist is happy so it shouldn't be too much longer before I'm back in training,' Torres added.
