Fergie Pleased With Torres Arrival
Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has spoken of his delight after the club agreed a deal with Coca-Cola League Two side Wycombe Wanderers for the transfer of midfielder Sergio Torres.
The 27-year-old will complete the move if he passes a medical at the start of next week and Ferguson is well aware that the Argentinean could bring more flair to the club's squad.
'It is a great signing for us. Sergio is an exciting player who is sure to be a fans' favourite. He has pace and skill, but he also has great versatility as he's decent down the middle as well.
'We've done well to get to him and fair play to the chairman for backing me again. We've had to pay Wycombe a fair bit of money,' Ferguson said. The club have not disclosed the amount of money that has been paid for the midfielder.
Torres said in an interview with Wycombe Wanderers' official site that the move is to help him further his career. 'It was a very hard decision to make. I'm sad to leave because I've had three unbelievable years at Wycombe and every single person I know at the club has been so nice to me.
'But on the other hand I'm happy because it's what I wanted to do ever since I came to this country - to play at the highest level possible,' Torres said.
We will have more reaction from Sergio on Monday.
