Peterborough United's only summer signing to date Russell Martin has already settled into life with his new club and believes that the training camp in Marbella will strengthen the strong team spirit that already exists in Darren Ferguson's squad.

Martin was signed from League Two side Wycombe Wanderers and joined his new team-mates for the week-long stay in the exclusive La Cala resort in Marbella. Rooming with former Wycombe team-mate Tom Williams, Martin is settled and raring to go for the new League One campaign which gets underway in August.

'This resort is first class and all the lads are really appreciative of the facilities, but we are here to work and we are working extremely hard. The sessions have been tough, particularly with the heat, but they are enjoyable too. The lads have made me feel really welcome and I am sure we can have a successful season.

'Myself and Tom Williams are good mates, he only lives a few miles away from me and obviously we played together at Wycombe so it is always nice to have a familiar face helping you settle in. I can see already there is plenty of talent in the squad,' Martin told theposh.com.

Martin stayed in a similar training camp in Marbella last year, but admits the facilities that Posh are currently occupying are second to none and the surfaces are certainly aiding good passing football, the style that Darren Ferguson's men try to adopt.

'At Wycombe we spent a week in Marbella, but to be fair, these facilities are five star and the pitches are excellent. The hotel has a superb pool and we all go in there after the hard training sessions to relax the muscles before the hard work starts again. They are double sessions, one in the morning and one at night,' Martin added.

Williams missed out last year on the training camp and is making the most of the facilities this time around. 'I have to say that these facilities are excellent and the club and the chairman must be thanked for giving the lads the chance to train here. Hopefully it will be very beneficial for when the season starts.'
