Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has confirmed that Manchester United will be bringing the European Cup and Premier League trophy with them to London Road for the pre-season friendly on Monday 4th August (7.45pm).

The Red Devils lifted the Champions League after beating Chelsea in Moscow and also held off a strong challenge from the Blues in the league after a hard-fought battle which went down to the final day.

The Posh boss has confirmed that the trophies will be in attendance at London Road and admits that it is a game that he cannot wait for: 'It is a game that I am really looking forward to and it should be a great test just before the season starts. I will be playing my strongest possible side and so will United.

'I think it will be great for the supporters to be able to see the trophies and also see the talented United side in action. Last year we got a few mixed messages from Old Trafford, not through anyone's fault, just because of changes in their fixture calendar, but they haven't got any interferences this year and I am sure it will be a game that both sets of players will be relishing.

'I know that tickets are selling well for the game and it would be great for the players to play in front of a sell-out crowd just before the curtain-raiser in the league. I can't wait for all the games to start again, I have enjoyed my break, but I am eager to get started now,' Ferguson said.

Remember, the clash against Manchester United is all-ticket and fans can purchase tickets online or by calling the 24-hour hotline number which is 0844 847 1934.
