www.theposh.com is delighted to reveal that Peterborough United goalkeeper Joe Lewis has been called into the senior England squad for the forthcoming friendly with the United States at Wembley Stadium.

Lewis, who made his England under 21 debut in the win over Wales recently, will link up with the national side at Colney in London after receiving the call-up in the last 24 hours.

Director of Football Barry Fry told theposh.com: 'This is fantastic news for Joe and for Peterborough United. I believe there has been an injury to one of the goalkeepers in the squad and they have called Joe up. It will be a fantastic experience for him.'

England face USA on Wednesday evening before travelling to Trinidad and Tobago for another scheduled friendly - the final game before the summer break. England boss Fabio Capello and Goalkeeping Coach Ray Clemence both watched the recent under 21 game at the Racecourse Ground.
