Potter Enjoys Day Out At Wembley
The FA Cup final between Portsmouth and Cardiff City was watched by close to 90,000 supporters at Wembley Stadium and amongst them were Peterborough United pair Craig Mackail-Smith and Alfie Potter, who were guests of the Football Association.
The duo were both winners of the FA Cup Player of the Round competition and alongside ex-Posh goalkeeper Luke Steele, they were given VIP treatment at the stadium after an overnight stay in one of London's top hotels.
Potter, who was named the Player of the Round for his exploits against Liverpool whilst on-loan at non-league Havant and Waterlooville, said it was a memorable day, despite the narrow score-line that accompanied Portsmouth's first trophy since 1939.
'It was a great day out at Wembley and a big thank you to the FA for looking after us so well. We went down on the Friday night, were put up in a hotel and on Saturday were given the full VIP treatment. We all enjoyed ourselves and it the atmosphere was unbelievable,' Potter told theposh.com.
· Meanwhile there were mixed emotions at Wembley on Sunday as the Blue Square Premier Play-Off final as Cambridge United were defeated 1-0 by Exeter City. Former Posh boss Jimmy Quinn and midfielder Paul Carden were both left deflated by the U's lacklustre display, while Mathew Gill and Richard Logan can look forward to league football after helping Exeter to the win.
