Chairman: 'Please Keep Off The Pitch'

Posted on: Fri 02 May 2008

Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has pleaded with supporters to stay off the pitch on Saturday as Peterborough United complete their Coca-Cola League Two campaign against Darlington at London Road (3pm).

The chairman has written a piece in the match day programme and will address the crowd during the half-time interval at the weekend. 'It has been a magnificent season for Peterborough United and I am sure, like me, you want to congratulate the players for their achievements, but we need to celebrate in the right manner.

'Last season we had an incident on the pitch and that cannot ever be repeated at this football club. The Safety Officers and the Police have stated that if everyone adheres to the request to stay off the pitch, the players will enter the dressing rooms at the final whistle and then come back out onto the pitch with their families to say thank you for your tremendous support.

'If anyone enters the field of play, this will not happen. Please stay off the pitch so we can all enjoy the celebrations together.'

The turnstiles will open at 1.30pm and there is plenty planned for the day including youngsters from the Voyager School performing Posh We Are, which is available to download through www.poshweare.co.uk.
