Hatch Happy With Winner

Posted on: Sun 17 Feb 2008

Liam Hatch came off the substitutes bench to fire the winner for Peterborough United against Barnet at London Road on Saturday afternoon and the former Bees front man had 'a feeling' he would net the crucial goal.

Hatch, who made the move from Underhill during the January transfer window for a fee of £150,000, saw his shot loop off a defender and into the back of the net. It was a timely strike and secured all three points for Darren Ferguson's men to keep the promotion push on target.

'It was good to score against my former club and I seem to make a habit of that because I scored against my previous club when I was at Barnet. I said to Micah Hyde before the game that I fancy coming on and scoring and he said 'no chance' so it was pleasing to find the back of the net.

'I was getting a bit of a hammering from the Barnet fans so it is always nice to score. It opened up for me and I don't think the Barnet defenders expected me to shoot so it was great to get a nice deflection over the goalkeeper.

'I obviously would love more starts and I hope to do that, but I have to keep working hard and hopefully the rewards will come. The lads are all full of confidence and we are obviously aiming for automatic promotion. The results went for us at the weekend, but it is all about what we do. We can only influence our results,' Hatch told theposh.com.
