Punters Backing Early Hatton KO at 66/1

Posted on: Thu 06 Dec 2007

We've taken a pasting elsewhere recently, but the England flag is still flying over the Ricky Hatton camp as he prepares for the fight of his life against Floyd Mayweather in the early hours of Sunday morning.

And punters at bet365 have been piling into the "Hitman" to score an early KO victory, forcing the odds on a first-round win down from 100/1 to 66/1, and even that price might not last.

bet365 have also seen plenty of money for Hatton to win in rounds two (66/1), three (50/1) and four (40/1), and have been forced to chop a Hatton knockout success (surely his best chance of success) to 4/1.

But that's not the only way that punters have been siding with the Mancunian star. A win (or even a brave performance in defeat) would make him a shoe-in for the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year Award, which takes place on Sunday night, and bet365 report plenty of interest in Hatton at 9/4 behind their favourite Lewis Hamilton at 2/5.

However, that's not to say that no-one is backing Mayweather. The American is a solid 4/7 chance to win the fight (Hatton 6/4) and a standout 23/20 with bet365 to win on Points.
