Premier League new boys Birmingham City scored three goals in less than 10 minutes as Peterborough United suffered a 3-0 defeat at London Road in their latest pre-season friendly.
Posh, lining up in a 4-4-2 formation, won the first corner kick of the game on three minutes and home debutante Chris Westwood came close to connecting to Jamie Day's in-swinging set-piece, but the Blues were fortunate to see him miss his attempted header.
The visitors responded well with Scottish international Garry O'Connor linking the play excellently, dropping deeper into midfield to get possession. At the other end, Day's corner kick caused problems and Martin Taylor did well to stop Aaron Mclean tucking the loose ball into an empty net.
Former Tottenham Hotspur reserve team captain Charlie Lee tested Doyle on the quarter hour mark with a fierce drive from distance, which the goalkeeper did well to hold at the second attempt.
The lively O'Connor saw a shot blocked on 26 minutes after an incisive break led by Muamba before the same player found the side-netting with a weak volley after a mistake by Day.
On 32 minutes, Mclean forced Doyle into a smothering save after good work from Low down the right hand side. The former Grays Athletic striker was his usual energetic best, closing down a Nafti shot in the defensive third with typically tenacity before taking a clattering from Jaidi at the other end after racing 50 yards to close down the defender on a bouncing ball.
Boyd lofted a shot over the crossbar after a good low ball into his path by Day as Posh continued to play some slick passing football. Mclean then beat two defenders before scuffing a shot straight at Doyle after Boyd had made the space with a good piece of individual skill by the half-way line.
The deadlock was broken on 50 minutes when summer signing Oliver Kapo fired a left foot shot past Tyler and into the roof of the net.
Boyd tested Doyle with a skidding left foot shot from 25 yards five minutes later. Posh responded well but moment later the Blues doubled their advantage when Jerome headed home from close range after good build up down the right.
The Blues made it 3-0 on 56 minutes after a mistake from Westwood presented the ball to O'Connor, he took his time and delivered an inch perfect pass for Sebastian Larrsson who struck a sweet drive into the far corner of the net.
Hyde drilled a shot past the far post moment before manager Darren Ferguson switched two players with Danny Crow and Craig Morgan to the action.
Substitute Crow flashed a shot over the bar after good work from Gain on 65 minutes as Posh tried to settle after the three goal burst from Birmingham. Dean Keates saw a powerful shot blocked by Taylor as Steve Bruce tinkered with his side as Gary McSheffrey and Mikael Forssell came off the substitutes bench.
Finnish international Forrsell turned smartly on the edge of the area with 15 minutes remaining but his low shot didn't test goalkeeper Tyler. Tyler reacted quickly to snuff out Forssell's attended toe poke after McSheffrey's free kick had struck the wall.
On 81 min Posh wasted their best chance to get on the score sheet when Mclean's flick picked out Crow but the former Norwich City front man saw his shot saved by Irishman Doyle.
The Blues pressed for a fourth goal late on, but thanks to some resolute defending and a bit of luck, the goal wasn't breached again.
