Striker Aaron Mclean found the back of the net for the first time since suffering a serious knee injury as Peterborough United faced Celtic at London Road on Friday night and the front man has admitted that it was a 'great feeling' to be back on the score-sheet.

The former Grays Athletic forward cancelled out Scott MacDonald's opener on 19 minutes by firing past the goalkeeper two minutes later after good work from recent signing Rene Howe.

'It is always nice to score when you come back from injury and I want to score as many goals as I can, whether it be a league game or a pre-season friendly. I felt the partnership with Rene Howe is one to work on, we linked well and he is a good player.

'He is big and strong and always looking for the ball into my feet and that helps my game a lot. We will keep working on it through the pre-season and when Craig Mackail-Smith gets back to full fitness then I am sure he will want to be playing, so we have good competition up front.

'It was a really warm night against Celtic and I suppose those conditions are not really conducive to a quick tempo and it does take it out of you a lot. The fitness coach has worked hard making sure we are fully ready for the games coming up and he has done a great job.

'Celtic are a good side and you can see why they are Champions of their country, but I thought we played well. In the team I played in during the first period we coped with what they threw at us and we are not going to come up against teams of this calibre in our league. We have plenty to build on,' Mclean told theposh.com.
