The two teams came out to Lose Yourself by Eminem and it was a rather apt track for Peterborough United who went missing defensively at Dean Court to ship five goals and the good start to the season was a distant memory at the final whistle.

Posh were boosted by the news that Aaron Mclean was declared fit to start after an MRI scan gave positive news this week.

The hosts won the first corner kick of the game after a mistake from Kelvin Langmead, but it was taken short and Grant McCann was able to play the ball off Pitman and behind for a goal-kick. The Cherries forced three further cornes inside the opening five minutes, mixing their deliveries up, but in truth, it was Posh who looked dangerous from one of thoes, breaking at pace only for Mendez-Laing to play the wrong pass as players sprinted into the opposition half.

George Boyd saw a right-foot shot well blocked by Rhoys Wiggins on eight minutes after an intelligent pass from Mendez-Laing. However, it was the hosts who got themselves in front two minutes later as a cross from Liam Feeney was nodded past Lewis at the far post by Mark PUGH. Pugh read the flight of the cross better than full-back Little, who rather got underneath the ball and was left embarassed as the winger powered his effort past the goalkeeper.

There was certainly an open feel to the npower League One encounter and as the game reached the quarter hour mark, the Cherries were showing signs that they could cause plenty of problems for Posh, if they could keep this fast-paced tempo up.

A mistake from Nana allowed the home side to double their advantage on 20 minutes as Anton ROBINSON was played in by Pugh and the midfielder fired the ball across Lewis and into the back of the net. An uphill task for Posh now with the Cherries playing with their tails up and Gary Johnson's men struggling to cope with the pressure.

A McCann free-kick was headed over by Wiggins on 23 minutes as Posh finally caused a bit of panic and from the resulting set-piece, birthday boy Shwan Jalal clutched a header from Mclean.

Posh did create their first opening of the game on 30 minutes as Boyd volleyed the ball through to Mackail-Smith, but from an extremely tight angle, the striker dragged his left-foot shot wide of the target.

A deflected effort from Brett Pitman was gathered by Lewis on 34 minutes as Bournemouth continued to dominate proceedings. At the other end, a fierce low drive from Mclean was gathered by Jalal and Posh were at least starting to create a few opportunities.

A minor injury to Grant McCann on 39 minutes at least allowed manager Gary Johnson and his management team a chance to speak to their players who were still looking shaky. A curling effort from Mclean was claimed by Jalal on 43 minutes after the best spell of possession from Posh in the match to date.

Half-time: Bournemouth 2-0 Posh

Johnson made a double change at the break with Charlie Lee and Tommy Rowe introduced and there was also a change in system with Posh deploying a 3-5-2 system to try and cope with the Cherries.

One also notable change was the weather, with both teams greeted to a a heavy downpour at the start of the second period. Posh had an early appeal for a spot-kick turned down as Mackail-Smith took a tumble under a challenge from Pearce.

Straight down to the other end and it was 3-0 and game over to the home side as another quick counter-attack caught Posh cold, again in the full-back areas, this time Charlie Lee was unable to cope with the pace of Pugh and as he got to the by-line he had the intelligence to pull the ball back to PITMAN who made no mistake.

Lewis was called into action on 51 minutes after a slip from Lee let in the dangerous Pugh, who was running rings around the Posh defence, struggling time after time to cope with his pace and direct running.

Robinson made a superb double block on the line to stop Posh from pulling a goal back on 57 minutes, first denying Kelvin Langmead and then stopping Boyd's follow-up from close-range.

The Cherries may have been playing well, but Posh were causing all their own problems, a dreadful piece of play from Lee allowed PITMAN to race onto a terrible back-pass, round Lewis and slot into the empty net.

For all their good work of late, this was a horror show from Posh and Bournemouth were taking full advantage, running riot in the final third. Mackail-Smith fired an ambitious 30-yard effort wide, but with still 30 minutes remaining, the away fans were streaming out of the stadium.

Mclean saw a shot deflect wide of the upright via Pearce as Posh at least tried to get themselves on the score-sheet. Posh did pull one goal back on 62 minutes as a corner kick from McCann caused plenty of problems for the Cherries and LANGMEAD forced the ball over the line.

Mackail-Smith handballed on 64 minutes and was cautioned by referee Mr Miller rather harshly. The Cherries added a fifth on 68 minutes as PITMAN was allowed all the time in the world to take a touch and curl the ball past Lewis and into the corner. Bennett was hauled off moments later to be replaced by Dave Hibbert.

McCann was then cautioned for tugging back Bartley, who was putting in a masterclass in midfield of breaking up play and giving the ball to the more talented individuals.

Pitman nearly added a fourth goal for himself moments later after a sublime piece of skill, but he crashed his shot against the side-netting. It was almost a case of too many cooks on 72 minutes with Hibbert eventually firing inches past the post from 20-yards. Boyd was next in the book for a foul on the half-way line and the fact that Feeney was racing clear afterwards suggests just how open Posh were still playing this game.

Mclean glanced a McCann corner wide before the Cherries made their first change, McQuiod replacing Michael Symes. The substitute should have scored after more abysmal defending from the visitors, allowing the striker acres in the box, but he blazed over.

Former Posh shot-stopper Jalal made a fine stop, diving to his right to deny Mackail-Smith before Boyd clipped the rebound onto the roof of the net. Mackail-Smith escaped a second caution for a clear foul on Bartley before Pitman fired into the crowd.
