It was a tale of two penalties at the Walkers Stadium as Peterborough United earned their third successive Coca-Cola Championship point with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Leicester City.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson named an unchanged starting line-up for the Championship clash at the Walkers Stadium against Leicester City, who made one change to their side with Paul Gallagher replacing Lloyd Dyer on the left hand side of midfield.

Craig Mackail-Smith registered the first effort on target after a wayward header from Wayne Brown, but goalkeeper Chris Weale was able to make a routine save.

George Boyd saw a low 25-yard shot go wide of the target on seven minutes as Darren Ferguson's men, wearing the Argentina-style away shirt, made most of the early running.

It was definitely Posh doing most of the pressing and Lee Frecklington was inches away from breaking the deadlock on 11 minutes after a Mclean lay-back, but he curled his effort wide of the target.

Whelpdale then struck the outside of the post with a left-footed shot from 20-yards after cutting inside from the right hand side.

Toumani Diagouraga saw a weak shot saved after good work from Mackail-Smith moments later and the question of would Posh rue these missed chances was already entering the minds of the media gathered in the press box.

An error of judgement from goalkeeper Joe Lewis, who assumed Morgan's last-ditch tackle would be a back-pass and headed it, allowed Leicester their first opportunity of the game on 20 minutes but Dany N'Guessan shot wide.

Craig Morgan was booked on 23 minutes for a foul in the centre circle on Richie Wellens, but the free-kick came to nothing.

Aaron Mclean found the side-netting with a shot after a neat first touch, which had the Posh fans on their feet as they saw the net ripple, but Weale was not tested.

Posh were awarded a spot-kick on the half hour mark after Brown hacked down Mclean inside the box and BOYD confidently stepped up and sent Weale the wrong way to give Posh a deserved lead.

The hosts could have been level within 60 seconds after Lewis spilled Berner's cross to Fryatt, but his header was cleared off the line by Morgan.

Fryatt then beat the offside trap and somehow blazed wide as the inquest started at the back for the visitors with a flag not forthcoming.

The Foxes were now piling on the pressure with Lewis saving superbly from Oakley before Posh had a four on one opportunity on the counter attack, but after Boyd played in Frecklington, the midfielder took too much time and the chance was snuffed out.

At the other end, Lewis made a superb save diving to his right to deny Paul Gallagher and then used all of his frame to tip a dangerous Neilson cross away from danger.

Half-time: Leicester City 0-1 Posh

Leicester didn't take too long to level the scores after the break as Williams handled from a Neilson cut-back after Oakley had struck the underside of the crossbar with a powerful effort from a tight angle. FRYATT stepped up and slammed the penalty into the back of the net.

Gabriel Zakuani missed with a free header from a Boyd corner kick on 55 minutes after Mclean won the set-piece with a determined run into the channel.

A head injury sustained by Whelpdale forced Posh into their first change of the evening with Paul Coutts the man chosen to replace him by Ferguson.

Frecklington was cautioned by the referee who was not allowing the game to flow with every infringement brought back, frustrating both sets of supporters.

Mclean followed Frecklington into the book following a late tackle on Wellens.

Mackail-Smith fired a shot wide with his left-foot from around 25-yards on 77 minutes after a poor header from Tunchev in a rare piece of excitement during this second half.

It was back to the bookings for referee Mr Booth moments later with Diagouraga cautioned for an attempted tackle on Oakley.

Howard hooked a shot wide on 84 minutes after an inswinging centre from Gallagher as Leicester pressed for the winner.

Leicester were awarded a corner that never was in the first minute of stoppage time, but before the corner was taken the referee gave a free kick to Posh for a foul in the box.

Coutts was inches away from his first goal in Posh colours deep in stoppage time, but his low shot went inches past the post.
