Peterborough United are top of League Two - how does that sound? Goals from Dean Keates and Jamie Day earned Posh three more points, their sixth win in a row and their seventh clean sheet out of eight after a 2-0 victory at Barnet.
Ahead of kick-off at Underhill there was a moment of silence as a mark of respect for former Barnet player Carl Hoddle who sadly passed away aged 40 at the weekend following a heart attack. Darren Ferguson's men were kicking up the famous slope in the first half and it is certainly a pronounced slope that Posh would be battling against in the opening 45 minutes.
Posh could have found the breakthrough as early as the second minute as a Chris Whelpdale long throw was flicked on by Craig Morgan, but Jamie Day and Craig Mackail-Smith couldn't force the ball home at the back post.
The Bees also had a glorious chance to open the scoring on seven minutes as Jason Puncheon's excellent delivery was headed across goal by Albert Adomah into the path of former Histon striker Cliff Akurang but he powered his effort over the crossbar under pressure from Chris Westwood.
The weather conditions took a turn for the worse moments later as the snow began to fall with the wind also making life very difficult, particularly for Posh as it was in their faces first up. Posh had appeals for handball turned down on 10 minutes as Dean Keates' cross appeared to strike the arm of Sagi Burton.
Claude Gnakpa poked a Mclean cross wide of the target after a well-worked move which started with a burst from George Boyd on the left. Whelpdale then volleyed wide of the target as Posh caused problems again with Mclean flicking the cross into the winger's path.
Akurang hit the base of the post following a sharp turn inside the area, but it was a tight angle and Joe Lewis had narrowed the angle well. Burton then did superbly well to deny Aaron Mclean who had beaten the offside trap, with the defender toeing the ball wide for a corner.
Posh broke the deadlock on 32 minutes as an in-swinging free-kick from Dean KEATES seemed to escape everyone with the ball hitting the crossbar before finding the net. Moments later the Bees were down to 10-men as Puncheon was shown a red card, presumably for an elbow although initially it appeared that Burton was going to be dismissed.
Still the incident is hard to fathom with some quarters reporting it was foul and abusive language and some reporting it was for kicking the ball at a linesman. Two minutes of stoppage time was indicated by the fourth official as Posh looked to hold out to the interval.
Posh were kicking with the wind and down the slope for the second half and made a positive start. Mackail-Smith fired wide of the near post after a glorious cross-field pass from Morgan picked out Boyd on the left.
Gnakpa was fouled for an off the ball incident, his ninth booking of the campaign as he moved on to a precarious position - he is now just a caution away from a suspension.
Mackail-Smith should have done better moments later after beating his defender, but he fired into the side-netting. Burton nearly scored an own goal from a swirling Keates corner kick as Posh pushed for an important second goal.
Akurang struck the top of the crossbar with a looping header on 65 minutes after a Burton long throw caused a few problems for the Posh defence. Day was then booked for a hand off to Bishop who threw himself to the ground. Much a do about nothing.
Gillet was then booked for bringing down Mackail-Smith who had taken an excellent touch to cushion the ball down after a clipped pass from Boyd. Day took the resulting free-kick and his left-foot effort struck the underside of the crossbar before it was hacked to safety.
The referee was certainly getting an itch in his pocket and produced a yellow for Keates for a tackle on Bishop. Shane Blackett replaced the injured Whelpdale on 74 minutes as Boyd moved to the right and Day pushed on into left-midfield.
A deflected effort from Mclean squirmed wide of Beckwith's right-hand post on 80 minutes and Mclean should have done better from the resulting set-piece, heading wide of the target.
Lewis smothered an Adomah effort on 82 minutes as Barnet piled on the pressure as Posh began to get nervous in possession. Boyd was cautioned for a foul on 87 minutes. Four minutes of stoppage time was then indicated to the dismay of boss Darren Ferguson.
Posh made it 2-0 in added time as free-kick expert DAY curled another superb effort into the bottom corner to seal maximum points for Posh. It was a superb effort and the final whistle brought massive cheers from the 1000+ travelling Posh supporters.
