Pupils Complete Course With Posh

Posted on: Mon 22 Jun 2009

Year 10 students from Hinchingbrooke School in Huntingdon recently completed their Junior Football Organisers Course with Peterborough United Football Club. The pupils had been receiving tutoring from Senior Community Officer Nikki Johnson before spending the day at the club with Football in the Community Officer Nick Sheppard.

The pupils received a talk explaining the work that goes into the club behind the scenes and then a tour of the stadium, which included a photo opportunity with Director of Football Barry Fry. The students then travelled by mini bus to deliver practical training sessions to year 3 - 6 pupils at John Clare Primary School in Helpston. The day was a fantastic experience for all involved.

Sheppard said: 'A massive well done must go to everyone for completeting the JFO course. The students worked really hard with Nikki and were really enthusiastic throughout. The course offers a fantastic opportunity for young people to get involved in Football and opens many doors to young people taking part. A big thank you must go to Martin Fry, Head Teacher at John Clare Primary for allowing the Sports Leaders from Hinchingbrooke into the school to coach the Key Stage 2 children.'

Michelle Trewin, PE teacher from Hinchingbrooke School said: 'Huge thanks to Nikki and the team at The Posh! The year 10 students who completed their Junior Football Organiser course have had such an invaluable experience and will also have wonderful memories of their day to take with them long after finishing school. Hinchingbrooke can't thank the team enough and we strongly recommend the JFO programme to other schools.'
