Youths Suffer Defeat

The Peterborough United under 18's slumped to a heavy 5-0 defeat at the hands of Port Vale on Friday (30th July) afternoon.

The young Blues started the match brightest and created chances, with Joe Newell forcing a fine save out of the visiting goalkeeper, but it was the visitors opened the scoring. Posh should have been on level terms straight after the restart, but Dan Evans' glancing header hit the post before Kgosietsile Ntlhe fired over. Vale had the chance to make it 2-0 just before the break, but goalkeeper Alex Archer saved a penalty kick.

It was 2-0 moments into the second-half and later 3-0 as a wide free-kick eluded the Posh defence and found the far corner of the net. Evans struck the outside of the post as Posh looked to get back into the game, but two more late goals condemned David Oldfield's team to a heavy defeat.

Posh: Alex Archer, Cameron Stevens (Ben Seymour-Shove), Ryan Cotton, Arthur Lee, Kgosietsile Ntlhe, Matt Breeze (Josh Capocci), Matthew Cook, Aaron Wickham (Jay Davies), Joe Newell (C), Nathan Ralph, Dan Evans (Jacob Joyce).
