Players Help Raise Money For Sport Relief

On Wednesday 17th March, five Posh players were at Deeping School to take part in a school sports day to help raise money for Sports Relief.

Captain Joe Lewis got into the spirit of it by wearing a pink tutu in the dressing up race, Craig Morgan was in the Egg and Spoon Race whilst Tommy Rowe took part in the Bean Bag race. Charlie Lee was the busiest man, showing his competitive side in the Skipping and Obstacle race, while Sergio Torres was involved in the Bean Bag Balancing race.

All five then competed in an egg and spoon relay race and looked odds on for victory until Torres dropped the egg several yards from the finishing line to the obvious disappointment of his team-mates.

Football in the Community Officer, Nick Sheppard said, 'This event was a huge success, special praise must go to staff at Deeping School, particularly Jo Robertson who played a massive part helping us arrange the event. The players were fantastic and everyone had a good time. We hope to have raised in excess of £5,000 for this worthwhile cause.Once again, thanks to all the staff and students who turned out to support the event in droves and all the players for making the day such good fun.'

Students at the school were able to compete against the players by raising money through sponsorship, while other youngsters donated money to watch the events unfold. Sky Sports were there to capture the action (including Joe Lewis in a tutu!) and there will be footage on PUTV very soon.
