Watford condemned Peterborough United to a fourth successive defeat in the Totesport Football Combination League as the Hornets claimed a 2-0 win at London Road.
Watford had the better of the early exchanges and tested goalkeeper James McKeown inside the first few minutes, parrying a fierce Michale Bryan effort after a good slick move from the visitors.
Centre back Gabriel Zakuani was given one or two early moments of action, mainly on the ball, but he did produce a fine tackle to stop Will Hoskins from getting a shot on goal, 12 minutes into the contest.
The lively Hoskins fired wide moments later after showing a good turn of pace as Watford continued to threaten in the final third. On a difficult surface, both sides were struggling to play good passing football, but the teams were getting stuck in.
Youngster Nathan Koranteng was a threat down the left-hand side and a Jamie Day cross eluded everyone in the box as Posh responded well and produced some good attacks of their own.
Exodus Geohaghon was replaced at half-time with Romone McCrae the man introduced into the action. A shot from substitute Mingoia went wide of the target on 53 minutes before James McKeown did well to punch clear a difficult corner from the same player.
Watford opened the scoring on 67 minutes when a fantastic run by Michale Bryan allowed substitute MINGOIA to fire past goalkeeper McKeown. The goalscorer had another chance moments later, but this time McKeown thrawted his low effort.
Alex Austin made a fine block to deny Mingoia again on 69 minutes and the winger could have had a hat-trick inside three minutes.
Austin was penalised for a foul on Bryan inside the box and Will HOSKINS stepped up to coolly slot home from the spot.
