Sergio Torres got his first taste of action in a Peterborough United shirt as he completed 45 minutes in the pre-season friendly at non-league Corby Town with Jamie Day and Liam Hatch also featuring.

Captained by goalkeeper Mark Tyler, it was Peterborough United who got this pre-season friendly underway at the Triangle, home of non-league Corby Town. There was an early scare for the Posh as Jamie Day sustained a knock following a fierce tackle by the touch-line, but the left-back was soon back on his feet.

Sergio Torres, making his first appearance in the colours of Posh, showed some neat early touches and created the first half-chance of the afternoon for Adam Smith, but he saw his left-foot blocked at the far post after a clever cross from the former Wycombe Wanderers man.

Corby winger Olly Burges sent a powerful shot from 20-yards over the crossbar on 20 minutes as both sides struggled to carve out a clear-cut opportunity in front of goal. Stephen Deehan fired over after tricking his way past Callum Reed moments later after Corby did well to win possession centrally.

Posh were awarded a spot-kick on 32 minutes after Hibbert clattered into Torres in the box following a clipped cross from Smith and Danny CROW calmly stepped up and swept the ball past Osbourne. After treatment on his back, Torres soon rejoined the action.

Moments later, Corby were awarded a penalty kick of their own after Sam Gaughran needlessly barged into the back of Matt Nolan and DEEHAN stepped up and squeezed the ball past Tyler although the Posh goalkeeper very nearly kept the ball out.

Reed, who appeared to be feeling dizzy from an earlier aerial clash, was replaced by Josh Jirbandy on 39 minutes in the first substitution of the game. A deflected effort from Billy Crook was comfortably claimed by Osbourne after Smith had initially done very well with a defence-splitting pass to substitute Jirbandy.

Liam Hatch should have done better on the stroke of half-time after Crook picked him out, but leaning back and from a tight angle, the striker blazed well wide of the target. Torres was withdrawn at the interval as he continues his rehabilitation following a foot injury with Lewis Webb the replacement.

Hatch saw a header cleared by Warren on 48 minutes after a deep Smith corner-kick as Posh tried to get their noses in front early in the second half. Low then saw a curling effort plucked out of the air by Osbourne after cutting inside from the left.

Smith then drilled a 25-yard shot wide of the target after good hold-up play from Hatch. Day lasted an hour on his return to action before being replaced by Danny Andrew at left-back.

Posh grabbed the lead on 63 minutes and it was a well-worked goal with LOW rolling the ball into the feet of Crow, he back-heeled it back to the midfielder who raced clear and lofted the ball over the advancing goalkeeper. A simple finish but a great example of running off the front man and not standing still once the ball had been passed.

Hatch should have extended the lead five minutes later after he was afforded plenty of space in the area, but he headed Jirbandy's cross over the bar. Smith clipped the outside of the post with a fierce shot from distance after good work from Crow, who let the ball run across him to allow Smith to run onto the it.

Substitute Nathan Koremteng fired wide after a neat turn as Posh pressed looking for a third goal which should wrap the fixture up. Danny Andrew fired wide after more good from the substitute as Luke Abraham became the latest player from the youth team to be introduced.

Corby levelled the scores on 79 minutes and it was a well-worked move by the hosts with one-time Posh front man Matt Nolan flicking the ball around the corner to the onrushing STEVENSON who coolly rolled the ball into the corner of the net past Tyler.

Posh finished with predominately their youth team as substitutions were made, but the management will be fairly content, particularly with the performances of Jamie Day at left-back on his return to fitness and the promising debut of Sergio Torres, who completed his first 45 minutes in a Posh shirt. Both are set to feature again against Manchester United at London Road on Monday evening.
