Peterborough United made it two wins from two matches at their pre-season training camp in La Cala with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Coca-Cola League Two side Rochdale.

After Rochdale raised concerns over the surface at the original location in Marbella, the game was switched to La Cala where Posh have spent the last six days. Iran pulled out of the tournament due to political reasons while Marbella FC decided to stay put and have a training session at their complex.

Keith Hill, the Rochdale boss, and Darren Ferguson switched the game and put on a good spectacle for the fans present. Chairman Darragh MacAnthony watched on from the sidelines as a strong starting XI reached half-time 2-0 ahead.

The first goal was well worked with Chris Whelpdale getting to the by-line and delivering a fierce driven cross which was headed home from close-range by striker Craig Mackail-Smith.

The lead was doubled mid-way through the half as Dean Keates threaded the ball to George Boyd who took a touch before rifling a superb left-foot shot from 20-yards into the top corner past the despairing dive of Sam Russell.

Aaron Mclean fired wide when well placed moments later while Charlie Lee saw two efforts drift past the post. Posh ended the half strongly with Micah Hyde dictating the play in the centre of the park and the two wide-men causing plenty of problems.

Manager Ferguson changed it around at half-time with only Tom Williams, Dean Keates and Russell Martin not replaced. The second half was more scrappy and Rochdale reduced the arrears when Keates was penalised for a trip on Chris Dagnall, who stepped up to take the resulting penalty, firing the ball into the roof of the net past James McKeown.

Adam Le Fondre went close with a header before one-time Posh midfielder Ciaran Toner drove a 20-yard shot wide. Ben Muirhead looked lively on the right for Dale, but it was Posh who got the fourth and final goal of the evening as Alfie Potter skipped past the full back and placed a fierce shot into the bottom corner of the net with his right-foot.

The only downside to the evening was an injury suffered by Charlie Lee, who took a kick on his ankle. He was immediately substituted and left the complex with an icepack on the affected area, but the injury is not thought to be serious.
