Emile Sinclair earns Posh a first pre-season victory over Championship side QPR at London Road.

Emile Sinclair scored the only goal of the game on a sweltering afternoon at London Road as Peterborough United recorded their first victory of pre-season with a 1-0 success over Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

Grant McCann, who penned a new two-year deal during the club's training camp in Ireland, tested goalkeeper Robert Green with a free-kick on six minutes, but the ex-England shot-stopper was equal to the effort.

Mendez-Laing was next to test the QPR goalkeeper after cutting inside from the left, but his low shot was dealt with comfortably.

Trialist Laismant had the ball in the back of the net on 24 minutes, but the ball was already out of play and a corner was given instead. McCann was next to try his luck, but his swerving effort found the side-netting with Green beaten.

Posh lost the services of Rowe to a facial injury on 33 minutes with Joe Newell his replacement.

McCann produced a fine block to deny Danny Simpson before Joe Day smothered a low Wright-Phillips effort.

Day then superbly tipped over a curling free-kick from 25-yards from Faurlin as the visitors came the closest to breaking the deadlock.

Bobby Zamora sent a looping header wide of the target on 64 minutes before Danny Swanson saw a shot blocked with the rebound going wide of the target.

Joe Newell intercepted a Derry pass on 82 minutes and ran towards goal, but from a tight angle, Green made a routine stop. Grant was then well placed to clear a Hoilett cut-back on a QPR counter-attack.

On 86 minutes, Posh got themselves in front as great work from Newell saw him burst into the box and clip a ball across goal, it took a huge deflection via the head of Onuoha and was nudged over the line from close-range from Emile SINCLAIR.

Faurlin saw a superb drive expertly tipped over by Day late on before referee Mr Deadman brought an end to proceedings.
