Zakuani was cautioned for a clumsy challenge on 51 minutes with Tyson the man clattered by the centre back.
Alnwick made a fine flying stop to deny Williams at the far post before the same player headed over from a right-wng centre.
Coulthirst was cautioned for a foul as Posh struggled to contain the Doncaster pressure. Posh made their final change on 70 minutes with Martin Samuelsen replacing Oztumer.
